Turnitin License Renewed

I just want to let you all know that Vanier’s license for Turnitin has been renewed until June 30, 2011. Our license includes the originality reporting module, as well as the other WriteCycle modules such Grademark and Peer Review.

Turnitin: Student Log-In Information

This handout explains to students how to log in to the Turnitin.com site. The handout was originally prepared by Ron Curtis of the English Department. Teachers interested in distributing this handout should note that they must enter the class ID and password for their patricular courses.

Second Information Session on Turnitin

Are you still interested in using the Turnitin Plagiarism detection / prevention service with your students this semester? It is not too late. We will be hosting a second information session and demonstration of the service on Wednesday, October 28 at 12:30 (room to be confirmed via email). Please come with all your questions and concerns!

Turnitin Information Session

As of August 24, 2009, teachers at Vanier will have access to the Turnitin plagiarism detection / originality reporting service. This will replace EVE2, the plagiarism detector previously supported by the College.

We will be hosting an information session for faculty on Turnitin on Wednesday, September 16th at 12:30 in room A-311.

New at Vanier: Turnitin, a Plagiarism Prevention Service

As of August 24, 2009, teachers at Vanier will have access to the popular Turnitin plagiarism prevention service. I (Marleigh) will be the Turnitin administrator for the College. Turnitin will replace EVE2, the plagiarism detector previously supported by the College.

So, what is Turnitin? Turnitin is an online service that processes all the papers your students submit, compares them against continuously updated databases and then churns out an “Originality Report”. Continue reading »

Academic Policy: Cheating and Plagiarism

Vanier’s Academic Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism, last revised in 1995 and approved in 2001, clarifies how the College defines cheating and plagiarism and what actions must be taken when a student is caught cheating or plagiarizing. The same policy is incorporated into the College’s IPESA.
